CHARLIE Rowley believes Forres Mechanics let their Scottish Cup opponents off the hook – but can finish the job this weekend.

Cans drew 2-2 with Lowland League side Civil Service Strollers on Saturday, and must now make the trip to Edinburgh to try and win Saturday's replay.

An away tie against Edinburgh City in round two is the reward for the winners, and Forres manager Rowley is confident his side can still go through.

"We were thoroughly dominant in the game and clearly the better outfit, clearly played the better football and clearly had all the match winners, in my opinion," he said.

"The only thing I can say is we possibly got a bit complacent, pushing for that third goal when we didn't need to and then got hit by the sucker punch."

The match highlights from the William Hill Scottish Cup YouTube channel (above) show Mechanics midfielder Alan Pollock scoring two cracking goals.

However Strollers, who took a 15th minute lead in the tie, finished strongly and grabbed an 88th minute equaliser to force the replay.

"We have no fears about going down there next week," said Rowley.
