THE Scottish Cup second round draw wasn't too kind to Highland League clubs.

Callum Davidson, boss of cup holders St Johnstone, drew the names out of the bowl and gave the majority of Highland League clubs a road trip.

Rothes' reward for their 2-1 win at Blackburn United yesterday is a visit to either Newtongrange Star or Dalbeattie Star, who drew 1-1 yesterday.

Huntly's 3-0 success over Hill of Beath earned them a visit to League Two bottom side Stenhousemuir.

Brora Rangers will be on home soil against Albion Rovers, who were ousted from last season's competition by Buckie Thistle.

Buckie have a first round replay at home to Cumbernauld Colts on Saturday and if they get through they are away to league Two leaders Kelty Hearts.

Elgin City head for Home Park to face Clydebank, who were 7-0 winners against Dalkeith Thistle on Saturday.

Formartine could face a rematch with Forfar Athletic, who defeated them in the SPFL Trust Trophy this season, if they win their replay against Cumnock.

And Banks o' Dee, who defeated one Highland League side in Turriff United, face another as they host Nairn County, 4-0 winners against Strathspey Thistle yesterday.

There was cup disappointment for a number of Highland League sides in the first round.

Lossiemouth were defeated 3-0 at home to Preston Athletic while Forres Mechanics lost 2-0 at home to Lowland League leaders Bonnyrigg Rose.

Deveronvale drew 2-2 with Haddington Athletic and Wick Academy were held by Bo'ness United by the same scoreline.

Keith went down 2-1 to cup newcomers Darvel and Inverurie Locos found Jeanfield Swifts too hot to handle at Harlaw Park, losing 3-0.

Highland League leaders Fraserburgh crashed 2-1 at home to Sauchie Juniors but Brechin City were comfortable 5-0 winners over Vale of Leithen.

The biggest Highland League winners were Brora who polished off Tynecastle 6-0.

There were 100 goals scored on Saturday's First Round ties, as 22 sides booked their place in Sunday's Second Round draw.

They join East Stirlingshire in the draw, as they defeated Fort William 3-0 on Friday night, while a 1-1 draw between Cumbernauld Colts and Buckie Thistle mean they will go to a replay.

The most eye-catching result of the day was East Kilbride's 10-1 away victory over Coldstream, Broomill put six past Glasgow University, and St Cuthbert Wanderers secured an 8-0 victory over Wigtown & Bladnoch.
