Nairn County manager Ross Tokely has stood down by mutual consent after 5-1 defeat to Forres Mechanics





Nairn County have confirmed Ross Tokely has stepped down as manager of the Highland League club by mutual consent.

He has resigned following Nairn County’s 5-1 defeat to Forres Mechanics at Station Park on Saturday which has left them in 12th position in the league.

The 45-year-old stepped up from the playing squad to take over as manager on April 26 following the departure of Steven Mackay.

Chairman Mark Kelman paid tribute to Tokely for the service he gave to the club as a player and a manager.

He said: "Ross has been an excellent servant to Nairn County as both a player and manager.

"There is no doubt that he has given it his all in his time as our Manager and has left no stone unturned in his efforts to bring success to the club.

"Ross's influence on the playing squad when he signed for us in October 2022 will not be forgotten and his impact in helping to turn the team around from that position to winning the North of Scotland Cup just over 12 months later was substantial.

"On behalf of everyone at the club, I would like to say thank you to Ross for everything he has done for Nairn County and to wish him all the very best for the future."

Tokely joined Nairn County as a player in October 2022 and made 52 appearances, winning both the Players' and Supporters' Player of the Year awards in his first season at the club before going on to pick up the North of Scotland Cup in November 2024.

His record as Manager reads played 25, won eight, lost 11 and drawn six.

Assistant Manager Brian Macleod and Coaches Alan Geegan and Wayne Mackintosh have been placed in interim charge of First Team affairs and will prepare the team for Saturday's away match at Formartine United.
