A FIELD of 36 ladies played in the SLGA Medal and Brooch competition at Forres on Tuesday last, battling against the wind and thankful for the occasional appearance of the sun and only the odd shower.

Despite the unpleasant weather conditions and four putts on the 18th green, Carinne Taylor managed to return an excellent net score of 69.

Results - Silver Division – Carinne Taylor (8) 69; Doreen McCaig (19) 71; Iris Wilson (16), Louise Hampton (13) 74. Bronze Division – Catherine Urquhart (24), Fiona Grant (22) 73; P. Davis (22) 75.

THE Wednesday Seniors welcomed the Ladies to a joint competition – the Spring Meeting – a 3 Ball Best-Ball format with two men and one lady in each team.

Twenty teams took part in the competition, and on a dull and blustery day, there was a competitive edge to the proceedings. Four teams managed to score 59 each, but one team – Fiona Grant, Tony Brown and Stewart McDonald – dominated the whole field with an exceptional score of 54.

The prizes were presented by the Lady Captain – Dorothy Marshall – and nearly £200 was raised for charity from a raffle of prizes donated by the players.

Results:

1: Fiona Grant(22), Tony Brown(19) and Stewart McDonald(16) – 54

2: Pat Lees(24), Vince Dobby(17) and George Woodhouse(17) – 59(BIH)

3: Carolyn Boyd(21), Bill Dallas(20) and Jeff Wheeler(9) – 59

Nearest the pin: Louise Hampton (Ladies’ Winner) at the fifth and Dave McMurdo( Mens’ Winner) at the seventeeth
