Forres Harriers athlete Bruce Evans finishes second in Leeds Triathlon age group as part of AJ Bell World Triathlon Championship Series

Forres triathlete Bruce Evans had celebrated a podium position at a major international event.

Competing in his age group sprint at the Leeds Triathlon on Saturday, the 17-year-old swam, cycled and ran his way to second place.

Part of the World Triathlon Series, the event draws entries from thousands of athletes, from amateurs to elites.

Evans' sprint event started with a 750 metre swim which he completed in 10:07 minutes.

He then completed the 18.4 km cycle in 32: 57 and finished off with a time of 18:38 in the 5k finale.

Evans will now focus on the Scottish Triathlon Championships in August, knowing a strong performance could see him selected for the World Championships next year.
