Burghead Thistle defeat Livingston United to reach Scottish Junior Cup fourth round while Whitehills pick up first win of north junior championship season





Burghead Thistle marched into the fourth round of the Scottish Junior Cup with a famous win at Livingston United.

Thistle won in a penalty shoot-out when the game finished 2-2 after 90 minutes.

An early Livingston penalty was cancelled out by James Fraser’s 12th minute equaliser.

The home side regained the advantage early in the second but Ben Abrahams’ strike on 75 minutes squared it once again.

Burghead keeper Kyle Rowe was a hero in the shoot-out with two saves, Max Taylor, Jack Lingard, James Fraser and Jamie Davidson all scored for the victorious Moray side.

Burghead now play Drumchapel United in round four.

Lossiemouth United’s run in the competition was ended by a 3-0 defeat at home to Armadale Thistle.

United caused perhaps the biggest shock in the competition’s history by defeating hosts Auchinleck Talbot in the previous round.

Islavale’s home match against Dundee East Craigie was postponed and Deveronside lost 3-0 at Glenafton Athletic.

On league business, Whitehills broke their duck for the season with a 3-2 win at home to Cruden Bay.

New Elgin won 3-2 at Dufftown, with Euan Simpson netting both home goals while Ross Porter, Dean Stewart and Rab Forsyth (pen) getting the New Elgin goals.

Forres Thistle lost 5-0 at Stoneywood Parkvale.
