McGovern set to quit Forres for more cash

CRAIG McGovern is the latest Forres Mechanics star to jump on the Highland League cash bandwagon and refuse a new deal at Mosset Park.

That's the view of Mechanics manager Charlie Rowley, who has put key defender McGovern on the transfer list in the same way he did with goalscoring midfielder Alan Pollock last month.

Pollock looked set for a move to Rothes this week while McGovern is also up for grabs, and the Forres boss admitted he is dismayed at the amount of money being thrown around in Highland League football.

He said clubs who are desperate for success are spending way beyond their means to lure the best talent, including his own stars.
