FORRES and Nairn District Welfare FA has announced that the upcoming season has been cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic.
All competitions will be affected. Twelve teams had signed up for the campaign.
FNWFA president Matthew Young said: “I can announce today that the executive committee has taken the decision to cancel all planned competitions for the 2020 summer season, due to the ongoing effect of covid-19 on football across the country.
"The committee had planned early on in the SFA-enforced suspension of football for a worst-case scenario of needing to start no later than the first week of July.
"It had become clear over the last few weeks that football at this level will not be able to, or is extremely unlikely to, restart safely before the end of the summer season.
"So the committee have decided to delay all competitions until the 2021 summer season, at which point it is hoped that football will have returned at all levels and any safeguarding measures required to ensure the safety of all involved will have been developed and implemented fully.
"Clubs for the 2020 season have been offered the opportunity to either roll over their membership to 2021, or receive a refund on their entry fees. I am delighted that the majority of them have decided to (roll over their membership). Any club who wishes for a refund is to be offered first refusal for a place next year, when members are sought closer to our AGM.
"I would like to wish all teams, players, coaches, committee members and supporters stay safe and well during these unprecedented times, and I look forward to inviting you all back to enjoy some FNWFA football next season."
Moray and District Welfare FA has not yet made an official decision regarding its season, with details to follow in due course.
