Ladies on form at Forres

A field of forty three ladies played in the SLGA Medal and Putting competition at Forres on Tuesday, August 25.

Although overcast for most of the day, the morning players were particularly unlucky as they had drizzle to contend with.

Scoring was high overall taking the CSS to 72 for the day.

The results were: Silver Division - Daisy Beaton (13) 66; Liz Mackintosh (18) 71; Rhona Cameron (10), Helen Jefferson (18) 73.

Bronze Division – Dorothy Marshall (21) 72; Doreen Dallas (30) 73; Morag James (24), Fiona Grant (21) 75.

Putting – Fiona. Grant 26, Daisy Beaton 27.

Daisy Beaton, Dorothy Marshall and Liz Mackintosh each reduced their handicaps by one shot.

On August 26, 51 Wednesday Seniors and Forres Ladies competed for the Leanchoil Centenary Cup.

Played annually, the competition follows a Three-Ball Best-Ball format with two gentlemen and one lady in each team.

Despite heavy showers throughout the afternoon, the standard of play was excellent with most of the teams scoring 63 and under.

But the team of the day, and the winners of the Leanchoil Centenary Cup by three clear shots, were Carol O’Keefe, Alan Bell and Gordon Thomson with a score of 57.

Second and Third places had to be separated on count back. The prizes were presented by Dorothy Marshall, the Forres Ladies Captain.

The results were: 1st Carol O’Keefe, Alan Bell and Gordon Thomson - 57; 2nd Sue Taylor, Donnie Hutcheson and Tony Brown – 60(BIH); and 3rd Sandy Morgan, Alec Marshall and Jimmy Jones – 60.

Nearest the Pin Ladies – Ellen Garrow. Nearest the Pin Seniors – Bill Taylor.
