Highland League: Inverurie Loco Works keeper Zach Ellis scores, Rothes rooted to bottom and Brechin City and Brora Rangers edge wins
A goalkeeper scored deep into added time to extend his side’s undefeated streak to 10 matches at the end of a six-goal thriller.
Zack Ellis, in goals for Inverurie Loco Works, was the unlikely hero for his side in a 3-3 draw with Fraserburgh in the Highland League.
Locos went into the game on the back of nine successive wins - including a 1-0 victory over title-chasing Brechin City in midweek - but looked set to lose at home to Fraserburgh before Ellis’ dramatic intervention.
Ross Aitken put the Broch ahead on 22 minutes, with Mark Souter levelling 10 minutes before half-time.
Goals from Scott Barbour for the visitors and Daniel Agnew for the hosts had the game at 2-2 in the 55th minute, before Logan Watt scored what for a long time seemed to be the winner on 68 minutes.
That’s until Ellis made himself a hero with a 94th-minute leveller to extend his side’s unbeaten run to 10.
Elsewhere, it was Strathspey Thistle that came out on top in the clash of the bottom two at Seafield Park.
Conor MacPhee’s eighth minute goal was enough to ensure Rothes are rooted to the foot of the Highland League table, three points behind Strathy with a significantly worse goal difference and four games to play.
Lossiemouth are nine points clear of bottom after condeming Deveronvale to their eighth successive defeat.
James Leslie’s goal was enough to secure a 1-0 win for the Coasters at Grant Park - their first victory since January.
There were 2-1 wins for the both of the teams involved in the title fight.
Brora Rangers, who remain in the driving seat thanks to their superior goal difference, were 2-1 winners at Clachnacuddin.
Troy Cooper opened the scoring for the hosts in the first half - but goals from ex-Elgin City duo Matthew Wright and Shane Sutherland saw Brora turn the game around.
Brechin City got back to winning ways at Glebe Park - but were pushed all the way by Forres Mechanics.
Mitch Taylor - another former Elgin City player - grabbed both goals for the hosts, either side of header from Ryan McRitchie in the 56th minute.
Fin Allen, on loan from Elgin, continued his fine run of goal scoring as Buckie Thistle drew with Formartine United at Victoria Park.
The two sides are separated by one point in the league, and couldn’t be separated on the park as Julian Wade’s 36th minute strike meant it ended 1-1.
Keith were beaten for the third successive game - this time 1-0 by on-form Wick Academy at Kynoch Park.
Kyle Henderson’s goal means Wick have now taken 13 points from their last five matches, having started the season with 17 points from 26 games.
Nairn County ended a run of four defeats with a 2-1 win over Huntly.
Ben Barron’s penalty opened the scoring for the Wee County at Station Park before Brodie Allen equalised for the Black and Golds. The winner came courtesy of Callum MacKay’s 67th-minute strike.
Banks o’ Dee were 1-0 winners over Turriff United in Aberdeen. Lachie MacLeod scored the game’s only goal.
