First Highland League win of season for Strathspey Thistle at Lossiemouth’s expense while Brechin City defeat Buckie Thistle and Brora Rangers come out on top of Inverurie Locos





Managerless Lossiemouth fell victim to Strathspey Thistle’s first win of the season on Saturday.

The Coasters, who parted company with boss Eddie Wolecki Black this week, lost 3-0 to the league’s bottom side in Grantown.

Lossie had coaches Steve Porter and Stevie Dunn in caretaker charge along with former boss Ian Campbell.

An Aaron Nicolson penalty and a Scott Docherty effort had Thistle 2-0 ahead at half time and a further strike by Juan Cardona got the first points on the board for Jags, moving them to within a point of their opponents at the foot of the table.

Buckie Thistle’s revival was halted by Highland League leaders Brechin City on Saturday.

Second half goals by John Moreland and a Dayle Robertson penalty earned City a 2-0 win at Victoria Park.

Keith couldn’t make it three wins in a row despite leading at half time against hosts Formartine United.

Jake Thomson got one back for the Speysiders on the hour but Huntly sealed victory from Sam Robertson’s third on 75 minutes.

Shaun Morrison’s 77th minute strike earned Forres Mechanics a point at home to Nairn County, who had led through ex-Can Ben Barron’s 15th minute penalty.

Clach came strong in the second half to defeat hosts Deveronvale 3-1 thanks to goals by Connor Bunce, Jack Davison and Josh Meekings. Harry Noble scored a consolation penalty for Vale.

Wick Academy have conceded 13 goals in their last two outings following their 6-1 loss at home to Banks o’ Dee.

Iain Vigurs’ first minute goal for Dee set things going and Andy Hunter made it 2-0 at the break. Lachie MacLeod and Mark Gilmour both hit second half doubles for the visitors.

Brora Rangers beat Inverurie Locos 3-0 in a match where both sides finished with ten men.

James Wallace’s first minute goal and a Jordan MacRae double won it for the Cattachs who also had Craig MacKenzie sent off late on, with Locos having Jay Halliday red carded on the hour.

Turriff United and Fraserburgh fought out a 1-1 draw with Sean Butcher’s 62nd minute strike for Broch cancelled out within five minutes by a Jack McKenzie free kick.
