The four, who train at Sansum Kickboxing in the Mosset Tavern, have been awarded their black belts.

Ethan Walton, James Hair and Jordan Bradshaw received their Junior black belts. A build-up of fours year of hard work came down to a two hour test consisting of skills, techniques and exercises, which they all took on with great confidence.

“The three Juniors performed brilliantly and they couldn’t have done it better,” said instructor Murdo Mackenzie. “I was very proud of their efforts, before and during the test”.

Dylan Lee also achieved his Cadet black belt. His test consisted of four hours of physical, technical and mental challenges. Dylan has been getting up before school to go to training, finishing school and going straight to the club on Tuesdays and Thursdays. He helps set up for classes and assists with the teaching of younger students before taking part in his own class.

“He is an excellent example to the younger students and has shown great passion to achieving his black belt,” said Murdo. I was very proud of Dylan especially as he showed a positive attitude throughout his test”.

All four boys were determined and enthusiastic throughout and understood how important it is not to give up.

They now hope to retake the test next May to earn their star’s - an even higher level of junior black belt. Their long term aim is to keep training until they are 18 to achieve their first degree black belts.
