A FORRES teenager is set to compete in shooting's Hungarian Open Championships, which begin today.

Lucy Evans has been in Budapest this week training ahead of the competition, which will run from today through to Sunday.

Evans' coach, Sonal Gyorik Ramendra is Budapest-based, so preparation has been ideal.

The competition follows on from a good summer period, which saw Lucy win several medals competing in the United Kingdom.

"I've trained for three days and I'm set to compete in the Hungarian Open Championships over the weekend," Lucy said.

"Over summer, I had a long but successful period where I competed all over the UK.

"Last month, I came home from the Welsh Championships with a gold and two silvers in the junior women's competition, along with a personal best."

Despite her many success, Lucy isn't happy to rest on what she has done so far – with big aims for next summer.

"My major aim next year is the World University Games in Chengdu, China, in July 2022," she added.

"The competitions in the coming months are still a bit uncertain, but I know I am planning to go out to the Denmark Open next February."
