A YOUNG Forres Mechanics goalkeeper is moving on to bigger and better things after impressing with the Highland League side.

Mechanics under-17 custodian Logan Morrison is being monitored by Aberdeen and is training with Inverness Caledonian Thistle.

The starlet has been at the club for four years and was the under-15s players’ player of the year in 2018.

The modest 15-year-old said: “I’m enjoying Mechanics, but it’s really flattering that Caley Thistle think I may be good enough.”

Mechanics U15 Lead Coach, Allan Frisken, was full of praise for the youngster.

He said: “We don’t want to lose him but Logan thoroughly deserves this opportunity at a higher level. He is physically imposing and a superb shot-stopper. Throughout his time with us, he has been a pleasure to coach and a quick learner. We’ve even undertaken additional goalkeeping courses with the SFA to keep up with him!”

Head Coach Charlie Brown also praised his player: “It’s fantastic for Logan who is a super lad as well as being a real prospect for us, Aberdeen, Caley – and any other good club.”

However, Brown has been left ruing the youngster’s success.

He added: “Ironically, Logan’s possible move has contributed to us being short of goalkeepers at under 15 level. If there are any budding goalies out there born in 2005 or 2006, they should contact Allan Frisken on 07788165268. They will get a warm welcome from the U15 squad and specialist goalkeeper training every week.”
