TWIN brothers Lee and Graham Fraser were on target for Forres Mechanics as they defeated Burghead Thistle 2-0 on Wednesday night.

The Fraser twins – both from Burghead – scored a goal in either half to see off their hometown team.

Lee Fraser almost opened the scoring on 25 minutes, but his shot was tipped onto the post by the excellent Burghead goalkeeper before Stuart Soane tapped in from an offside position.

Two minutes later, the striker did make it 1-0, tapping in a rebound from close range.

The half-time break brought the chance for change, with five substitutes coming on as Mechanics upped the tempo.

However, the inspired visiting keeper kept the score at 1-0 until the 78th minute, when Lee Fraser flicked on for brother Graham to loop a header into the net.

On another day, the goals might have flowed for Forres but the hosts had to settle for 2-0.

Manager Charlie Rowley said: "Defensively we were OK and midfield areas we were neat and tidy.

"Unfortunately, we didn't get the breaks and we didn't have the quality needed to break them down.

"Having said that, the keeper had at least 12 saves during the game, including a couple of good ones, and there were numerous blocks.

"But we should have had more goals, that's for sure."

This was Mechanics' third pre-season friendly, having lost 1-0 to Inverness Caley Thistle and won 4-1 against Nairn St Ninian.

The Cans' final friendly sees them take on Charlie Brown's Strathspey Thistle this weekend, before the Highland League campaign gets under way against Wick Academy at Mosset Park on July 24.
