Lindsay had beaten Nathan Sharp, conqueror of reigning champion Colin Mackay in the first round, and his match against Dingwall went the full distance before Lindsay won on the first extra hole.

Today he plays his semi-final against Ronnie Macdonald, who ousted Derek Grant in another extra hole battle, then defeated John Mitchell 6&5 to reach the last four.

Multiple former winner Bryan Fotheringham exited the scratch Grant Cup competition to Daniel Rainey, who now plays Clint Maxwell, a winner in a 21-hole joust with Craig J Smith.

The reigning Fraser Cup holder for low handicap, Steven Fraser has been defeated in this year’s quarter-finals by Kevin Lowry.

But Capri Tray winner in 2023, Corey Black is still in contention to hold on to his trophy after wins over Craig Wilson and Colin Cruickshank to earn him a semi-final tie today against Neil Matheson.
