Elgin City manager Allan Hale says his team will be fully focused on their William Hill League 2 clash at East Fife and not thinking about Aberdeen in the Scottish Cup

Elgin City might have landed a plum Scottish Cup draw, but the league is all that matters right now.

That’s the message from manager Allan Hale ahead of today’s important top-of-the-table League 2 clash at East Fife.

All the talk this week has been about City drawing Aberdeen at home in the cup - the tie takes place at 3pm on Saturday January 18 after being snubbed for live TV coverage.

Hale welcomed the draw earlier this week, but almost immediately turned his attention to the trip to Methil.

Elgin are currently top of League 2 with East Fife breathing down their necks in second place.

“There won’t be much talk about Aberdeen in general between now and the week leading up to the game,” said Hale.

“We’ve got a really difficult December. We are playing pretty much all of the teams that are round about us in the league and it’s a really important month.

“I know my group of players and I know that they are not going to get too high with the draw.

“They were high on Monday and rightly so but at training the focus will very much be on the weekend and preparing right for a really difficult away match against East Fife.”
