The first jack of the season was delivered by the club's youngest current member, Alana Coutts.

What followed was a 16-end match between president's and vice-president's teams.

After what looked for a while would be an easy win for the president's team, his side emerged with a narrow 93-87 victory.

The performance of the day came from Buckie Victoria's Bill Petrie. He hit a six at the fourth end as he skipped Mary Sobey, Lesley Mackintosh and Lesley Coutts to an emphatic 30-5 victory over Steve Gill.

Stuart Robertson hit two sixes against Paul Coutts as he levelled things for the VP team with a 30-8 victory.

Davie Petrie put the VPs ahead after a closely-fought match with Gary Mackie, who had led early on but after a real battle, found himself on the wrong end of a 14-11 scoreline.

Dean Dobbs levelled things with a one-sided, 24-4 thrashing of Alex Porter who was relieved to only lose a seven at the eighth end, thus avoiding picking up the first box of After Eights of the season.

A late comeback saw Cooper Park's Willie Robertson recover from trailing John Matthews by six shots to record a 16-14 victory.

A gallant effort from Harry Sutherland gave the vice-presidents a 20-4 victory in the remaining rink.

Sutherland led 9-0 before Brian Riddell got on the scoreboard, but, ultimately, results elsewhere on the green secured an overall victory for the president's team.
