Moray Figure Skating Club lands numerous medal successes at Tayside Club International and Skate Ayrshire events

Moray Figure Skating Club’s elite performers secured a big medal haul at two major competitions.

The club sent most of its Moray Skating Academy members to Dundee for the recent Tayside Club International, and returned with a string of honours and a source of great pride for coaches Sue Summers-Farrell and Graeme Summers-Campbell.

There was a gold medal for Savannah Pinch in the beginners ladies B event, thanks to a personal best score to bring her out on top in a field of 18 skaters. Maddie Bristow made it a Moray 1-2 in the competition with a fine performance to secure silver.

Another gold medal was displayed round the neck of Dakota Okaña-Wilson, who battled it out among a 16-strong field in the beginners ladies B contest and like academy team-mate Savannah, produced a PB score to win the gold.

There was a silver medal for Layla Hill in the national 4 competition.

Two bronze medals came the way of David Anderson, firstly in the junior men short program after landing a triple toe loop combination and a double axel.

In the free program, another triple toe loop sequence and a triple salchow earned the podium place.

The personal best performances kept coming, with Emme Mackintosh dazzling in the national 1 event to produce her finest score yet and claim a bronze medal.

Strong performances were also given by Emily Wright, Isla McManus, Adelie Forsyth and Everly Pinch in her first national event.

The Tayside success followed more medal glory at the Skate Ayrshire national event, as Team Moray secured three golds and a bronze.

Four Moray skaters attended the competition and all four stepped on the podium, with golds for Skye Murray, Emme Mackintosh and Jaya Beaton, and bronze for Layla Hill in the national 4 event.

At the Magnum National Opens in August, Team Moray also won third place in the Team Challenge out of the 22 teams taking part from all over the UK.

Moray Figure Skating Club hosts a Superskate session every Friday at Moray Leisure Centre.

The session is open to all skaters who have passed Skate UK level 4 and above. The club will also be performing a Christmas show which will be open to the public.
