Moray derby clash between Forres Mechanics and Rothes as Highland League returns
A LOCAL derby is in store as the Highland League returns tomorrow.
Rothes’ trip to Forres Mechanics is the Moray highlight on the opening day of the Highland League campaign.
The Can-Cans host the Speysiders in the first Moray derby of the campaign.
Forres will have Matt Jamieson and Kyle MacLeod in the squad ready to make their Highland League debuts in chocolate and gold, while Rothes could start Gregor MacDonald - who they pipped Mechanics to sign.
Buckie Thistle are not in action due to League Cup commitments, with Eddie Wolecki-Black due to take charge of his first match as Lossiemouth manager when Clachnacuddin visit Grant Park.
Lossie could hand a Highland League debut to Brodie Christie, who signed from Islavale. Owen Paterson, signed to join brother Ross at the Coasters, could also make his debut.
Keith are also in action - with the Maroons having the hardest task of Moray’s sides. Craig Ewen’s men will welcome the Highland League runners-up Brechin City to Kynoch Park.
Elsewhere, the clash between Formartine United and Banks o’ Dee is an eye-catching one, with both sides having ambitions at the top end of the league.
Strathspey Thistle’s visit to Huntly will give onlookers a chance to see the improvements the Jags, who finished bottom last season, have made over summer.
Fraserburgh make the long journey to Wick Academy on opening day, with Deveronvale welcoming Inverurie Locos. Brora Rangers are at home to Turriff United.
