Steve Gill has joined Ed Harris at the summit following his win in the latest round of the four-month-long competition.

Gill and partner Peggy Locke turned in a solid performance, losing just five ends to Charlie Watt.

Alex Porter was leading 16-1 after six ends against Harry Sutherland, who then scored a six at the next end to get a foothold in their match.

Winning five ends on the spin early in the second half set Brian Riddell up for victory over Sandy Burgess.

Stuart Robertson enjoyed a great finish to his match against Derek Sobey, scoring seven shots without reply in the final two ends.

Scores:

Steve Gill 22, Charlie Watt 7

Alex Porter 20, Harry Sutherland 13

Brian Riddell 15, Sandy Burgess 11

Stuart Robertson 16, Derek Sobey 13

In Wednesday's afternoon hat competition, Ann MacPherson and Derek Sobey were 10-0 up after just three ends and ended up with victory despite losing a five early in the second half.

Mary Sobey was involved in a lot of high-scoring ends, including a six for and against, and it was fitting that she ended all-square.

Ed Harris started badly but finished strongly while Charlie Watt fought back from a slow start but losing the final five ends cost him.

Scores:

Derek Sobey 13 up

Ed Harris 4 down

Charlie Watt 9 down

The moving hat night saw Henry Davidson pick up a further victory last week, joined by Roy Anderson and John Matthews.

A score of seven in their third set of their match against Steve Gill was the highlight of the night.

Alex Porter was looking to gain a Thursday hat night quadruple but was denied by the loss of a treble in the penultimate end.

Derek Sobey had the two sets against his wife Mary to thank for finishing on a positive note, after losing his other two sets.

Harry Sutherland never recovered from going behind in his second set, while Steve Gill started with a five, but lost 15 shots over four ends midway through the evening.

Scores:

John Matthews 9 up

Alex Porter 6 up

Derek Sobey 2 up

Harry Sutherland 4 down

Steve Gill 5 down

Mary Sobey 8 down
