Forres Bluefins swimmers dip into north district pool

TWO Forres Bluefins swimmers have been called up to the north district development squad.

Up-and-coming youngsters Dylan Riddoch-Smith and Jessica Powell were selected due to their consistently good performances which have marked them down as outstanding swimmers in the north competition circuit.

The Forres pair will attend regular sessions in Aberdeen delivered by top coaches in the area.

This will allow them to embark on a coaching pathway that will see them compete in national competitions and become eligible for national selection in the future as part of the Scottish Swimming elite performers pathway.

Bluefins were also involved in the Forres Mini Meet for swimmers throughout the area.

Dylan Riddoch-Smith and Adam Mitchell won age group trophies as the standout performers in the their age group.

Top performing Bluefins were:

First place – Freya Charters (eight year girls 25m backstroke); Adam Mitchell (eight year boys 25m freestyle and butterfly); Dylan Riddoch-Smith (11 year boys 50m freestyle, backstroke, butterfly and individual medley).

Second place – Ashley Anderson (11 year girls 50m backstroke); Emily Bulcraig (nine year girls 50m backstroke); Lucas Carruthers (nine year boys 50m breaststroke and freestyle); Freya Charters (eight year girls 25m breaststroke); Dylan McNally (11 year boys 50m backstroke); Dylan Riddoch-Smith (11 year boys 50m breaststroke).

Third place – Ailsa Allan (11 year girls 50m butterfly); Emily Bulcraig (nine year girls 50m breaststroke); Lucas Carruthers (nine year boys 50m backstroke and butterfly); Freya Charters (eight year girls 25m freestyle); Adam Mitchell (eight year boys 25m breaststroke and backstroke).

Other Bluefins performed well, some competing for the first time, with several achieving new personal best times.
