FORRES Bluefins have held their annual club championships awards ceremony.

A total of 61 swimmers competed in the championships with ages ranging from 6-17. For many young swimmers this was their first competition and a perfect opportunity to record times, whilst receiving encouragement from fellow club swimmers and coaches, with friends and family watching.

In just 26 races, club swimmers produced 110 personal bests – a remarkable achievement and reward for all the effort made by individuals throughout the year.

Age-group winners were: Grace Powell and Lucas Carruthers (10 and under), Jessica Powell and Dylan Riddoch-Smith (11-12), Shannon McNally and Ben Banford (13-14), Madie Wetherell and Craig Stevens (15 and over). Trophies were also awarded to Lydia Cameron, Lucas Carruthers, Jorden Hitchcocks, Dylan and Shannon McNally, Lewis Patterson, Grace and Jessica Powell, Molly Thomson and Callum Wright.

The overall club champions were Jessica Powell and Craig Stevens.

As well as the swimmers, a special award was presented to club head coach Alan Thomson in recognition of 30 years service.

Thomson joined Bluefins as a helper in 1990 and went on to become the head coach in 1996. Over the 30 years, he has been an active member of the committee, often holding more than one role simultaneously, whilst still maintaining his coaching position.

As an honorary lifetime member of both North District and Forres Bluefins, he continues to inspire and coach swimmers of all levels and ages within the club.
