Elgin City manager Allan Hale turns his full focus to William Hill League 2 business at Clyde tomorrow as well as January transfer options with two more players missing

The Aberdeen adventure is over - time for Elgin City to focus fully on promotion from League 2.

Manager Allan Hale enjoyed a “special day” on Saturday when City hosted the Dons in the Scottish Cup in front of a sell-out Borough Briggs, with Aberdeen winning 3-0.

This week was all about getting back to the reality of league business, starting with tomorrow’s important trip to Clyde.

“The players have done everything they could (against Aberdeen) and we need to look to the league now and focus fully on that,” said Hale.

The manager was dealt a double blow in the past week with on-loan goalkeeper Aidan Glavin being recalled by Kilmarnock due to an injury to their regular number one, and top scorer Dylan Gavin picking up a knee injury which will keep him out for several weeks.

Hale will work towards getting the rest of his injured players back on the pitch, with defenders Jack Murray, Ross Draper and Matthew Cooper edging closer to fitness.

Elgin will also eye January transfer options and may look to make a move for a striker because of Gavin’s long term injury.

Hale’s men have played just once in the league this year, drawing 1-1 at bottom side Forfar Athletic.

They have slipped nine points behind leaders East Fife and seven adrift of Peterhead but have two games in hand over both.

Goalkeeper Tom McHale is set to play his first game since picking up a serious ankle injury at Forfar in August.

He has missed Elgin’s last 20 matches in all competitions but is fully fit now.
