A LOCAL customer has won a high street business’s monthly social media competition.

Irene McIvor, from Forres, won a Dulux cuddly dog and £50 of gift vouchers from Wright’s Home Hardware after simply liking the shop on Facebook and describing what she would spend her winnings on.

Store manager Colin Shreenan said: “Irene is a faithful customer who supports our high street. When I delivered her prizes she was delighted and told me she never usually wins anything! She said her grandchild would be delighted with the dog, and that she would be in soon to spend the vouchers on something for her garden.”

Home Hardware shops are independently owned, but members of Home Hardware Scotland – a buying and marketing group.

Mr Shreenan said: “We bulk-buy products so that independent retailers can compete with bigger chains and supermarkets. The Forres store has done well over the past year as many people have shopped on the high street. Lockdown has resulted in more time for gardens and DIY projects. Wright’s staff are always happy to assist by providing help and advice.”
