Woodland Creatures will tour 12 woodland areas across Aberdeenshire, Moray and the Highlands from August 27, bringing audiences out of lockdown hibernation by connecting children with the nature on their doorsteps.

Supported by Creative Scotland’s Touring fund, award-winning Moray-based Frozen Charlotte has put together the free hour-long show for youngsters aged two to eight.

Woodland Creatures is a fun mixture of live music and puppetry, with plenty of opportunities for interaction and creative play.

Celebrating nature and creativity, children are invited to become one of the pack, joining the Woodland Creatures in their natural habitat and assisting them in carrying out daily tasks.

During the engaging one-hour show, audiences will be seated in socially distanced nests, making for a natural and safe way for families to engage and creatively play. Tickets can be booked in nests of two, three or four people.

The cast includes Aberdeenshire based actor and dancer Sara Burr, Moray-based puppeteer and circus performer Rachael Macintyre, and actor and musician David Rankine, as well as performers Ross Watson and Simon Dunbar from Moray’s Out of the Darkness

Theatre Company.

Design is by skilled Moray-based Designer Kate Mckay and the whole production is guided by director by Heather Fulton, artistic director of Frozen Charlotte.

Ms Fulton said: "We’re delighted to be contributing to the wellbeing of young people and families across the north-east.

"Through celebrating the amazing talent and stunning natural environments here in the north-east to create a Covid-secure show that will inspire playfulness and bring joy to children and their loved ones and friends.”

Woodland Creatures is supported by the National Lottery through Creative Scotland.

Places are limited and booking is essential – visit www.frozencharlotte.com for tour dates and ticket details.
