Elgin event hosted by Home Energy Scotland to offer free advice on energy prices
Rising energy prices are a concern for many - with the price cap haven risen by 10 per cent at the start of October.
A roadshow coming to Moray is hoping to alleviate some of those concerns for local residents on Challenge Poverty Week.
Home Energy Scotland will be joined by seven other organisations as it hosts an event at the Inkwell Centre on Francis Place in Elgin on October 9 between 11am and 3pm.
Householders are invited to talk to advisors for free and impartial advice on saving energy and lowering bills.
Other charities and local agencies - including Moray Citizens Advice Bureau and Moray Council Housing - will be in attendance to offer further support with their respective services.
The energy price cap rose by 10 per cent on October 1 and is expected to rise again in January.
The UK government plans to cease the Winter Fuel Payment to all pensioners has been widely reported, too, with the devolved issue still be finalised in Scottish parliament.
Home Energy Scotland is the only channel through which residents can access this financial assistance from the Scottish Government.
Advice centre manager for Home Energy Scotland in the north-east, Michael Marley, said: “We exist to be a source of clear, personalised advice to householders in order to help them heat their home while managing their energy bills.
“Between the price cap rises and potential changes to winter fuel payments we appreciate it may be difficult for people to understand how these changes will affect them in real terms.
“With our free and impartial support giving up-to-the-minute advice, we encourage all concerned householders to come along and talk to us at our events or contact us at a time to suit them.”
Outside of these events, householders can call freephone 0808 808 2282, Monday to Friday, 8am to 8pm and Saturday, 9am to 5pm, to speak to advisors for free, impartial advice.
Email advice can also be requested through the Home Energy Scotland website.
