MONEY generated by natural energy is being made available to local people during the coronavirus pandemic.
The Berry Burn wind farm Community Fund has an emergency allocation of £6000 to help frontline community groups and voluntary organisations in the area deliver services during the crisis.
A fund spokeswoman said: "The focus of the funding is for those offering direct support to communities affected by the pandemic.
"Groups eligible to apply are at the frontline of providing services to people in the fund area, with a focus on where communities are disproportionately affected by Covid-19.
"Service examples include preparing and delivering food, co-ordinating the delivery of essential supplies, providing befriending services, practical support for those with mental health challenges, etc."
Applications are welcome from organisations and individuals within the community council boundaries of Dyke Landward, East Nairnshire, Forres, Findhorn and Kinloss, Heldon, Speyside, Finderne, Grantown-on-Spey, Cromdale and Advie.
Berry Burn Community Fund will administer the grants, deploying resources as quickly as possible.
"This is short term/emergency funding," added the spokeswoman. "We envisage most grants will be for a few hundred pounds, however, there is no maximum grant size."
The fund administrators will reserve the option to make a contribution to costs as opposed to giving the full amount requested where it is felt this will make best use of the funds available.
There is no fixed deadline for applications, however funds are limited.
