Wildfire reaching nearly six miles as emergency services tackle blaze
Fire services are continuing to battle a wildfire that is measuring nearly six miles in Highland and Moray.
A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “Three fire appliances remain in attendance on the A939 near Dava, Grantown-on-Spey, where firefighters are currently tackling a wildfire measuring approximately five to six miles.
“Operations Control initially mobilised four fire appliances to the scene after the alarm was raised at 5.50pm on Saturday, June 28.
“As a precaution, the public is asked to avoid the area, and those who live nearby are advised to close windows and doors due to the smoke in the vicinity.”
The B9007 is closed from the junction at Duthil to Ferness due to a fire which was reported at 4.05pm, yesterday (June 28).
The A939 is closed at Grantown-on-Spey to Ferness and the A940 is closed at Dava.
