No-one has been left untouched by the pandemic but our healthcare workers and carers have been among the hardest hit.

Our healthcare workers have tirelessly remained – and continue to stay – on the frontline fighting Covid throughout the pandemic and its aftermath.

Carers are the unsung heroes who selflessly give their time to make someone else's life easier.

The Moray & Banffshire Heroes 2022 aims to shine a light on these special people with the carer and healthcare hero awards.

The carer of the year will be an individual who cares for a loved one and who has made personal sacrifices in order to tend to the needs of others

The winner of the healthcare hero award will be an individual or group within the healthcare sector who has provided a service above and beyond the call of duty, improving or making an impact on the quality of life for others.

Parklands Care Homes is sponsoring the award for the carer of the year. Ron Taylor, managing director of Parklands Care Homes said: "We are delighted to be supporting the Moray & Banffshire Heroes 2022 campaign, and particularly proud to sponsor the carer of the year award.

"The pandemic has been a particularly challenging time for carers, both paid and unpaid, and it is important that we acknowledge the vital contribution they make.

"We wish everyone entering the award the best of luck, and we thank you for the remarkable work you do."

The healthcare hero award is sponsored by Specsavers.

Retail director, Specsavers Elgin, Peter Taylor said: “The pandemic has really highlighted the importance of community, and with that in mind we are incredibly proud to be supporting the Moray & Banffshire Heroes awards in order to highlight our real superheroes in the neighbourhood.

"We’re delighted to be sponsoring the healthcare hero award in particular, as a way of saying thank you for the incredible jobs our local healthcare workers are carrying out to keep us safe and healthy and we look forward to hearing the stories of those nominated.

"If you know someone from the healthcare profession who you think should be recognised as a local hero, make sure you nominate them.”
