Candidates across Moray will be wringing their hands today as voters decide who will sit on Moray Council until at least 2026.

In total, seven Moray wards will elect candidates, to fill 23 seats.

Only 11 sitting councillors are vying to stay in the job this year, out of 39 candidates.

Buckie voters, however, will not vote today as their ward is Moray's first uncontested ward since 2003.

Election results will be announced on May 6, with the daytime count starting at 9am that day.

Today's local council elections are the first since 2017.

The local election will be the first since the UK leaving the EU and the Covid pandemic.
