It was announced this weekend that the Build The Bypass Campaign was shortlisted for the News Media Association’s (NMA) Making a Difference Award 2024, which gives members of the public the opportunity to vote for their favourite campaign.

This is the second year an Inverness Courier’s campaign has been shortlisted for this category - it won last year for the Dual the A9 campaign.

Online voting is now open and will run until 5pm on Wednesday (30 October).

Steve Barron, managing director of Highland News and Media, which publishes The Inverness Courier, said: "Our campaign is important to us and to our audience. We all live and work in communities where we have to use the A96 and we've all encountered delays due to the lack of a bypass for Nairn. Congestion due to this is causing knock-on implications for businesses and everyone going about their daily lives, particularly those living in the area who are fed up.

"We've done what others haven't and listened to them. We staged our event in the heart of Nairn and attracted the government's senior transport officials along with the transport minister to put them on the spot in the run up to a general election. The passion in that room provided further fuel for this campaign which will continue until a bypass is built."
