Forres Area Community Trust needs help with the second phase of town hall improvements
VOLUNTEERS are needed to help improve a community building in the centre of town.
Custodians Forres Area Community Trust (FACT) are inviting anyone who can help raise funds for, or work on, the second phase of improvements to Forres Town Hall.
Director Lorna Creswell confirmed phase one included replacing the roof, which used up FACT’s reserves.
She said: “We want more creative ideas to enhance the experience for performers and audiences at the wide range of events we offer via improved sound and lighting. We would also appreciate help with decor, as well as fundraising for bigger developments. We hope to paint during the festive period so we need volunteers and hope for materials from local businesses.
“We need to raise funds for upgrades to the toilets, kitchen and general infrastructure, including access for wheelchair users.”
Several projects run on a daily basis at the town hall, as well as weekly coffee mornings and numerous other bookings.
FACT’s AGM is being held in the town hall’s North Rooms on Monday, December 16 at 6pm.
New board members are wanted to read documents and minutes, as well as attend monthly meetings.
“A strategy has been drafted for a way forward but fundraising is challenging,” finished Lorna. “Board members must have an interest in our community as well as a willingness to help and be positive. An understanding of the voluntary sector would be useful.
“Please come along to the AGM - all are welcome.”
