Moray Art Centre is offering you the opportunity to unlock your creative side this summer in Forres
This summer is your chance to rediscover creativity, learn new techniques, and be part of something truly special.
Whether you’ve never picked up a paintbrush or you’re looking to refine your skills, Moray Art Centre’s Summer School offers a welcoming and dynamic space to grow as an artist.
This year’s Summer School has brought together nine courses led by nine professional artists, each offering their own distinctive style and area of expertise.
The programme is designed to cater to all skill levels - from curious beginners to experienced creatives seeking fresh inspiration.
With a focus on practical learning, each course provides hands-on guidance, access to professional materials, and the chance to work in small, supportive groups.
For Duncan May, a father of two and graduate of Moray School of Art, the Summer School is a local gem more people should know about.
The 53-year-old said: “It’s a great opportunity to learn techniques and a new artistic skill. This is aimed at beginners and experienced artists alike.
“We held our first summer school in 2018 and had really good feedback. People don’t realise this opportunity is on their doorstep.”
Each course is designed to immerse participants in the creative process while offering space for exploration and personal growth. The artists involved are not only skilled practitioners in their own right but also passionate educators who bring warmth and energy to their teaching.
What sets this programme apart is its setting and ethos.
The Summer School is not just about learning techniques - it's about building confidence, nurturing creativity, and forming meaningful connections with others who share a passion for art.
Whether you’re looking for personal enrichment, a new hobby, or even the start of a creative career path, the courses offer a supportive environment to take that next step.
And because places are limited, every participant benefits from focused attention and guidance. This also means courses tend to sell out quickly, especially those led by returning artists whose previous sessions have been met with enthusiastic reviews.
If you’ve ever felt the pull to create, explore, and try something new, this is your invitation. Step outside your routine and into a vibrant community of artists and learners. Give yourself permission to play, experiment, and unlock that creative side you might have forgotten was there.
