MacMoray fan gets back flag she lost at festival – and now it’s covered in famous signatures
A young music fan got an extra surprise after being reunited with the flag she lost during the MacMoray music festival.
When Rebecca Cooper was handed her Saltire back she discovered it had already been signed by the acts whose signatures she’d been hoping to get.
The 13-year-old, along with her younger sister and mum, was among the 10,000-strong crowds who flocked to Elgin’s Cooper Park on both this past Saturday and Sunday.
During the course of the first day Rebecca managed to persuade the Vengaboys, Black Lace and Lasgo to sign her flag.
However, after returning to MacMoray on Sunday morning, the teenager suddenly realised she must have dropped it somewhere within the park.
Her mum, Pamela Thompson, said: "Rebecca was in tears after all her hard efforts to get the flag signed. She was going to put it on her bedroom wall.”
The family put an appeal for help online, at which point the festival’s organiser, Andy Macdonald, heard of Rebecca’s plight and decided to get personally involved.
Declaring that, “Nothing goes missing on my watch”, Andy learned the flag had been handed into security by a woman.
The 41-year-old promotor then set about getting acts on the Sunday bill to also add their names, including Nathan Evans and The Skids.
A delighted Rebecca was reunited with her flag shortly before midnight on Sunday.
Pamela, who lives in New Deer, added: “It’s nice to know there are still some nice people in the world. It was an amazing couple of days.
“Usually, when you go a festival, you like some acts but aren’t too bothered about some others, but everyone was great all weekend.”
Pamela continued: “We all really enjoyed the show the Vengaboys put on, and Rebecca particularly liked Nathan Evans as well.
“We’ve been to every MacMoray since the festival began, and plan to go again next year now following the announcement it’s going to continue.”
