Forres Swimming Pool and Fitness Centre and Moray Hydrotherapy Pool to shut for essential works
A leisure facility is set to close for up to five days this summer due to essential work.
Forres Swimming Pool and Fitness Centre and Moray Hydrotherapy Pool are to shut from Monday, June 30.
Survey work is to take place, to help protect the facilities when the old Forres Academy building is demolished after the new school is in place.
The checks will make sure the facilities stay safe and structurally sound during future construction works.
Efforts will be made to reopen the facilities sooner if possible and regular updates will be shared on the centre’s Facebook page.
It comes after the design phase got underway on the new Forres Academy, which is expected to open by Autumn 2028.
The new school will offer a modern learning environment that will help improve educational outcomes for young people in the town for generations to come.
Chair of the education, children’s and leisure services committee, Cllr Kathleen Robertson, said: “We’re grateful for the patience and understanding of the community while these important checks take place, and apologise for any inconvenience caused through reduced access for a short time.
“This is an important step in making sure the surrounding facilities remain accessible as we progress delivering the new Forres Academy.”
For more information on the new Forres Academy, an FAQ is available on the Moray Council website.
