THERE is still time for young people interested in a number of exciting roles with a major Moray whisky producer to throw their hat in the ring.

Four young people will have the opportunity to embark on exciting careers at a number of different sites, including Chivas's Strathisla distillery.

Chivas Brothers Ltd is gearing up a Sector Based Work Academy Programme which has a total of 12 vacancies available.

Four of those selected will move forward into work experience placements and, from there, potentially into full-time employment. Awaiting the successful quartet are a role as a lab analyst, a distillery technician and two warehouse operator posts.

The scheme is a joint venture between Chivas Brothers Ltd, Developing the Young Workforce Moray, Moray College UHI and the Department of Work and Pensions (DWP).

The deadline, which had been set at January 13, has been moved due to the current Covid lockdown.

DWP employer and partnership manager Jane Munro said: "Customers should continue speaking to their work coaches about this brilliant opportunity.

"Although the training has been delayed we are working closely with the employer and training provider to ensure this goes ahead as soon as we are able to safely."

The scheme is open to any 18-24-year-old who is in receipt of benefits, and anyone to apply or would like more information would need to speak to their work coach in their local Jobcentre Plus.

Applicants ideally should have a driving license but this is not essential.
