Police investigating a stabbing which left a teenager needing hospital treatment are chasing “a positive line of enquiry”.

A 15-year-old boy was taken to Dr Gray’s Hospital for treatment after they were seriously assaulted in Elgin’s High Street at around 7.20pm on Saturday.

The boy was later released.

It is understood that some of the stances at the town bus station were sealed off while police carried out patrols in the wake of the attack.

Commenting on the attack, a spokesperson for Police Scotland said: “Around 7.20pm on Saturday, we received a report that a 15-year-old boy had been seriously assaulted on High Street, Elgin.

“He attended at Dr Gray’s Hospital for treatment and was later released.

“Enquiries are ongoing and officers are following a positive line of enquiry.”
