The games have been held at the school for more than three decades with all proceeds raised going to local charities. This year’s selected charities were Moray Food Plus and The Warehouse at Elgin Youth Café.

Over £102,000 has been raised over the past decade thanks to the event.

There was more cause for celebration during the day as the Gordonstoun Pipe Band marked its 70th anniversary with a special performance which included playing a range of traditional tunes such as Mairi’s Wedding and Scotland the Brave.

Scott Oliphant, Gordonstoun piping instructor, said: “It was wonderful for the former students to come back and be part of the current band.

“They relished playing with so many pipers and drummers at the same time.
