Royal Regiment of Scotland soldiers, the Highlanders, to march through Nairn, Forres, Buckie and Huntly

Soldiers from the Royal Regiment of Scotland will be marching, piping and drumming through towns and high streets as part of their tour of the north.

Next week, 95 soldiers, 15 veterans and their super cute mascot pony Corporal Cruachan IV will be visiting Nain, Forres, Buckie and Huntly.

This tour is celebrating the regiment’s history as the ‘Highlanders’ - and locals are encouraged to attend.

This will also be an opportunity for previous serving members of the battalion to take part in the celebrations and reconnect with 4 SCOTS, as they are known today.

They will be in Nairn at 11am and Forres at 2pm on Wednesday, September 18.

The regiment will also be visiting Buckie at 11am and Huntly at 2pm on Thursday, September 19.

Ahead of these marches, on Tuesday, September 17, to celebrate 30 years since the formation of The Highlanders, SCOTS soldiers will recreate the famous meeting of the Gordon Highlanders and Queen’s Own Highlanders at Craigellachie Bridge.

Veterans of the antecedent Regiment will meet with today’s SCOTS soldiers on the bridge to honour The Royal Regiment of Scotland’s past and future.
