Six new cases of coronavirus confirmed in Moray as total since outbreak began reaches 140

SIX new cases of coronavirus have been confirmed in Moray in the last week, taking the area's total since the outbreak began to 140.

The positive covid-19 tests were taken on September 29 (x2), October 2, October 4 (x2) and October 5.

Between September 29 and October 6, 336 negative tests have been returned by Moray residents.

The most recent death update showed 21 people in Moray have died due to covid-19. Of those, 13 tested positive and died within 28 days and eight had the virus mentioned on their death certificate.

NHS Grampian – which includes Moray, Aberdeenshire and Aberdeen City – has now confirmed 2485 cases of coronavirus. That's 172 new cases confirmed since last week's update.

Moray neighbourhood update

The Scottish Government's new cases by neighbourhood tool shows there are cases linked to the Forres area, with a positive case in the Findhorn, Kinloss and Pluscarden area.

Cases have also been confirmed in Lossiemouth, Elgin and two areas of Buckie.

Scotland-wide update

Scotland has today recorded its highest number of positive coronavirus tests in a single day with 1054.

Since the outbreak began, a total of 820,986 people in Scotland have been tested for covid-19, with 34,760 positive and 786,226 negative.

During the week ending October 7, 44,027 people were newly tested with 5516 testing positive.

In the week ending October 4, 20 deaths were registered with covid-19 mentioned on the death certificate.

The number of coronavirus-related deaths in Scotland is now 4276, with 2519 having tested positive and died within 28 days.

A total of 28 people are in intensive care in relation to covid-19, with 319 in hospital.

In total, 4536 patients who have tested positive for covid-19 have been released from hospital since March 5.
