Schools in the Speyside area are the worst hit.

Knockando, Mortlach, Rothes, Aberlour, Craigellachie, Tomintoul and Glenlivet primary schools are all closed, along with Speyside High School.

Newmill Primary School is also closed, while there are delayed openings at Keith, Dallas, Lhanbryde and Millbank primary schools.

Buckie High School pupils will start later (9.35am), while there is transport disruption for Forres and Elgin Academy.

Additionally, the snow gates between Tomintoul and Cockbridge are closed.
