A96 closed between Elgin and Forres after crash near Newton turn-off

A section of the A96 is closed between Elgin and Forres after a two-vehicle crash.

The road is shut at the Newton turn-off. Westbound traffic is being diverted down the B9013 towards Burghead and eastbound traffic is advised to turn off the A96 at the Findhorn Roundabout in Forres, taking the B9011 towards Kinloss.

The incident was reported at around 1pm today (Tuesday, May 20). No update has been provided on the welfare of those involved.

Police Scotland are advising motorists to avoid the area if possible and Traffic Scotland suggests planning more time for journeys.
