LOCAL Scouts are travelling in style thanks to funding for a new vehicle.

1st Forres Scout Group used support from The Budge Foundation, Berry Burn Community Fund and the Gordon and Ena Baxter Foundation, as well as cash raised via its own fundraising activities, to pay for a new a 15-seat Peugeot Boxer minibus.

Volunteer leader John Innes welcomed the delivery last week, having ordered the bus last March.

He said: “It will enable us to take our young people on outdoor activities including kayaking, hikes, camps and other scouting events.

“The purchase would not have been possible without our supporters, for which we are immensely grateful.”

The group leaders realised their old bus had reached the end of its life after it repeatedly began to break down.

John said: “We had it for two years and it took groups to water sports activities and hikes around the area.

“It also took a group to Orkney for a camp and other places of interest.”

1st Forres Scouts hope to restart outdoor meetings with reduced numbers after the Easter holidays.
