Moray schools and nurseries were packed with heroes and heroines on World Book Day

Proud parents and carers from throughout the area have helped transform their children for World Book Day!

The event is designed to champion the fun of reading but it also encourages families to celebrate the characters in the books that they read together.

A World Book Day charity spokesperson confirmed that “reading is a superpower”.

She said: “Reading for fun is the single biggest indicator that a child will grow up to enjoy a happier and more successful life - more than their family circumstances, their parents’ educational backgrounds or their income.“

Top reading tips for parents and carers include: making the time to read together, even if it’s just 10 minutes-a-day until it becomes part of the daily routine; bringing stories to life with voices and sound effect to enhance children’s enjoyment; tapping into children’s interests and choosing books with theses themes; and visiting the library to choose free books, ebooks, audiobooks, comics and more to borrow to take home.
