PUPILS and staff at a local primary school were determined to celebrate Christmas despite coronavirus precautions.

Alves head teacher Mr James McLeman coordinated a special event last week before the holidays – a film shoot.

He said: “The school, with support of local film-maker Tim Flood, created a Christmas movie called Alves and the Elves. It stars an old head teacher named Mr Christmas who tries to turn the village into Santaland and rob the residents. Fortunately, P7 pupils come to the rescue with the help of the dinner lady and I.”

Teacher and director Mr Grant Campbell wrote the screenplay and story board, and teachers rehearsed the lines with the pupils and taught expression to act out the roles. The film was shared via a private YouTube link and parents will also be able to download the film from Glow.

The pupils also enjoyed class Christmas parties with food and games, with visits from Santa.
