Prince Andrew is no longer the honorary air commodore of RAF Lossiemouth after being stripped of all his military titles and royal patronages by the Queen.

The decision was taken yesterday in the wake of 152 navy, army and RAF veterans writing to the Queen to demand the 61-year-old be removed from all his military positions.

In their joint letter, they wrote: "Were this any other senior military officer it is inconceivable that he would still be in post."

The Prince is being sued in the US by Virginia Giuffre, who claims he sexually assaulting her when she was a teenager.

He denies the allegations.

Prince Andrew, a former navy Sea King pilot, had held the ceremonial role at RAF Lossiemouth since 1996.
