A pool game in a pub turned into a bar-room brawl when two men who did not know each other fell out.
At Inverness Sheriff Court today Darren Houston of George Street, Nairn, admitted engaging in a fight with man from Forres.
Fiscal depute David Morton told the court that an argument began in the Cuir Air Arms Hotel in Church Street on February 8 last year.
He stated that, after Houston interrupted the game of pool, "words were exchanged and then matters deteriorated.
"Bar staff intervened in the melee that followed and Houston was removed."
Defence solicitor Marc Dickson said that his client, who was a first offender, "was embarrassed" by the affair.
Sheriff Robert Frazer fined Houston £150.
