Serious assault is one of the crimes listed in the Forres Community Safety Report
Three assaults - one of them serious - were reported to the police in the area in August.
The Forres Community Policing Team’s monthly report for Forres Community Council listed the offences alongside a number of other local crimes including further antisocial behaviour, theft and motoring offences.
Inspector Neil Morrison confirmed the report covers progress police have made in dealing with “priorities” for the Lossiemouth and Fochabers, Forres and Speyside areas.
He said: “The report highlights emerging issues in the area, and provides crime prevention advice and guidance. Our focus is to reduce crime and disorder, help create safer communities and respond effectively to local concerns.

There were five reports of vandalism in August. Lines of enquiry are being followed, using CCTV and house-to-house enquiries. One incident has been reported to the Procurator Fiscal.
There were two reports received of assault in August, both were reported to the Procurator Fiscal.
Two reports were received of people in possession of personal amounts of a controlled substance. One was reported to the Procurator Fiscal.
Someone was traced, arrested and charged following a report of a serious assault outside a licensed premises. A report was submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.
A breach of bail was reported to the Procurator Fiscal.
Three reports were received of people being threatening and abusive towards their partners. Enquiries are ongoing into each.
There were four further reports of threatening and abusive behaviour in August. Three have been reported to the Procurator Fiscal. An enquiry is being made into the other.
August saw three reports of shoplifting from local businesses. Enquires are ongoing with positive lines and potential identities for suspects.
There was a report of a fraud involving a suspect cloning another’s social media account, then asking for a deposit of £200 for an item advertised for sale online by the account holder. The suspect also contacted the real person by WhatsApp, asking for the deposit back. Enquiries are ongoing.
There was also a report of a fraud involving a victim signing up for a Facebook investment. Money was repeatedly deposited to the suspect and when asked to withdraw the money, they refused. Enquiries are ongoing.
A report was received of someone putting £100 of fuel into a vehicle at a local filling station, before entering then failing to pay before leaving. Positive lines of enquiry are ongoing.
There was a report of a person driving under the influence of a controlled substance. Positive lines of enquiry are ongoing.
Someone was charged and reported to the Procurator Fiscal for driving while unfit, with no insurance, for failing to stop after an accident and other driving offences.
One person was charged and reported to the Procurator Fiscal for having defective tyres and no MOT.
Another was charged with driving an overweight vehicle. A report was sent to the Procurator Fiscal.
Finally, another person was reported to the Procurator Fiscal for failing to report an accident.
