FORRES’s highest ranking police officer is moving on to a new national role within the force.

Inspector Kerry Rigg, who took over from former chief, Keli McPhail, a year ago, will start in the professionalism and assurance business area of Police Scotland on Monday, March 29.

She said: “It’s an opportunity for me to further develop my knowledge and experience in an area I’ve not worked in before. That said, I’m a local lass and I live in Moray with my family. My children are schooled here too so I will very much be keeping a keen eye on local matters.”

Mrs Rigg appreciated the chance to lead the police in Lossiemouth and Fochabers as well as Forres over the last year.

She said: “I’ve hugely enjoyed my time working in the community policing team and have witnessed a great deal of resilience and community spirit, particularly during these exceptionally tough times as a result of the pandemic. I’ve felt welcomed and I’m proud of the work the officers do every day in Moray.”

Chief Inspector Norman Stevenson, Moray Area Commander, offered his gratitude to Insp Rigg for her valuable contribution in overseeing operations.

He said: “She has been a great support to the communities, delivering on the policing priorities by leading and developing her staff and I wish her well with her new post in Inverness.”

He added: “I am delighted to welcome Inspector Tony McCullie to take on the role in Forres and Speyside. He is keen to build relationships with members of the public and local partners to better understand and address any concerns in the community.”
